Creedence Clearwater Revival, oft known as CCR (or even by older generations, only Creedence) is the title of an American rock band, fronted by John Fogerty.
History
A band began retired when A Blue Velvets, formed by Tom Fogerty in El Cerrito, California in the late 1950s. Per mid 1960s, the band signed the record contract, got their title changed to The Golliwogs (an apparent reference to the another time-popular minstrel doll known as the Golliwogg) by record company executives, and discharged two or three obscure singles that failed for found.
In time Tom's immature brother, John Fogerty, took control of the group, writing everthing of their lesson & singing lead vocals. A band's number 1 album when Creedence Clearwater Revival was freed around 1968. The cover of the Dale Hawkins Swamp Rock classic "Suzie Q." became their first hit lone. Following, Creedence Clearwater Revival is considered section of that distinctly Western Swamp Rock music, exemplified once more virtually all conspicuously in their song "Born On The Bayou."
By 1969, the band really began to call for its voice; "Proud Mary" became their 2nd hit only & was followed by the series of successful songs, including "Bad Moon Rising", "Green River", "Down on the Corner", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Up Around the Bend", "Fortunate Son", & "Lookin' Out My Back Door." Due to John Fogerty's profits when writer, singer, & frontman, a more band members began to sense such as it were existence held back. His brother Tom left a band around 1971, to pursue an ill-fated solo career. John Fogerty, around an attempt to keep items together, allowed bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford equal songwriting and vocal instance on the band's final album Mardi Gras in 1972, which proved conclusively that Fogerty's songs & vocal style were a key to the band's profits. A album received unfortunate reviews, sold badly & a class action disbanded shortly later.
John Fogerty bought himself away from his contract with Fantasy Records and eventually established the successful solo career.
CCR was inducted into a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
B& members Doug Clifford and Stu Cook formed the band inside 1995 with other musicians known as "Creedence Clearwater Revisited". It primarily play a original band classics. 'Revisited' however performs as much as a united states.
